OUR PROJECT

This project, shared between two countries, is aimed at analyzing our differences and our common ground through time and across different generations, focusing on different fields: technology, art, literature, history and cultural heritage, music, science and sports. In this way, students will not only reflect on how the world they live in is different from the one their parents and grandparents lived in, but they will also become familiar with the evolution of a fellow European country through history in different fields. The main objective of this project is for students to research about and to find value in their own national cultural heritage and achievements as well as in other countries, eventually finding common values we all share and hypothesizing about the world they want to live in and what kind of planet they want to leave for future generations. Being acquainted with lifestyles, traditions and cultures other than their own will allow students to become active members of an European society in constant change. They must be prepared to adapt to foreign societies and cultures, in a world where interactions between European countries is becoming more and more frequent both in professional and personal spheres. Students will follow a project-based learning approach, in an interdisciplinary way, using German, Spanish and English as lingua franca to carry out the tasks, and English as the shared language to present their projects while they are together in both countries. Thus, they will also improve their English language skills. Being a two-year project, activities will be organized in two components: during the first year, we will focus on the past and the present whereas in the second year; students will deliberate on their view of the future. Therefore, students will be able to establish links between how past events can influence the future in which they will live. In order for this analysis to be thorough, the activities carried out in each subject will be interrelated through a common project, they will not be isolated activities within a department. These type of activities will be varied and will be used to lay out the future we want to create.

The general objectives of this project arise from the cooperation between two countries and from the collaborative work of students with similar ages led by their teachers but nevertheless students are responsible for their own learning process: -reflecting on their history and social development, and comparing it with other countries, valuing all the aspects that both differentiate and connect us - appreciating their sense of belonging as European citizens - becoming interested in actively participating in a common European project - sharing, analyzing, forming opinions and respecting others, supporting their points of view - valuing diversity (generational and cultural) and analyzing integration processes at different levels - improving foreign language skills, linguistic and communication skills and understanding of different cultures - encouraging collaborative working environments between students, teachers from the same and from different departments, and among different schools - promoting mobility within educational environments and fostering an interest in traveling and getting to know different cultures - reinforcing the European dimension in learning environments - facilitating equal opportunities across all educational sectors - improving the use of information and communication technologies in learning environments - encouraging innovation in educational practices and in the design of learning materials - spreading the use of project-based learning tasks among teachers

The activities to be carried out in this project will help students reflect on the type of society they want to live in and the type of citizens they want to become. They will design a set of goals, similar to the UN 17 Global Goals, for each of their countries. These goals will be created based on all the information they have obtained through their projects, so that their ideas and decisions are well- founded. The specific results we want to achieve are: - "European Goals " for a future society, designed with digital collaborative tools (Genial.ly) - A digital book containing the activities completed by students during the two-year project and divided into three sections: past, present and future. Both elements are easy to make public using social networks associated with the school.
